Nestled into the beautiful rocky mountains of northern Colorado, Thunder Horse Outfitters is based out of Grand Lake, Colorado. Grand Lake is the west side entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park and the head waters of the Colorado river. The amount of public land nearby is amazing and provides unlimited riding possibilities in breathtaking landscapes. Thunder Horse Outfitters is also proud to offer horseback treks all over the western United States – contact us directly for your own unique horse adventure.

The idea of Thunder Horse Outfitters was born in 2017 by Founder Travis Caffee wanting to bring people and horses together in beautiful places. Travis hopes to rekindle peoples’ passion for wild places by experiencing them from horseback. After noticing the large amount of horses in shelters and rescue facilities across the United States, Travis wanted to give the animals a better life and started adopting rescues in the spring of 2017. The property in Grand Lake was then purchased for the headquarters of Thunder Horse Outfitters and work began immediately on building fences and corrals to start taking in adopted horses.
